Our MSM students have an opportunity to learn and apply the quantitative skills one expects from an MBA, but do so within in the context of learning to lead dynamic improvement within an organization. This combination of specific practical skills and a high-level leadership perspective is unique to our MSM program here at the Graduate Center.

The way we teach also sets us apart from most other management programs. While classes meet face-to-face on a convenient every-other-weekend schedule, allowing participants to maintain their family and career commitments, the time between classes is filled with hands-on learning as students work closely with their colleagues-solving real-world business problems, discussing readings and current developments online with instructors and other students. MSM students confidently apply what they learned on Saturday to a challenge they face at work on Monday morning.

MSM students take a series of core courses representing what we believe is the center of the critical management skill set, such as Project Management, Organizational Change Management, Legal and Ethical Issues in Management, and Business Foundations. Aside from those core courses, a wide variety of electives and the Graduate Center's commitment to self-directed learning allow program adaptability that will lead you to the specific learning paths of personal and career goals you determine for yourself.

Many of our graduates have focused on projects involving socially responsible management, nonprofit leadership, and triple-bottom-line accounting, while others build their curriculum around specific Internet technologies such as Web application development, database management, and contextual design. These students strive to be the people who can bridge the communications gap that so often emerges between the managers and the techies in numerous organizations.

Our curricular flexibility allows you to move with accelerated or self-paced scheduling (graduate in one year or at your own speed). You will work with the MSM Program Director and our Academic Director to develop a tailored Study Plan to meet your goals and engage your interests in a personalized and systematic fashion.

30 credits required for graduation.
